The Izaak Walton League Endowment is funded primarily by donations and earnings from investments. These funds are used to award grants to Izaak Walton League of America chapters and divisions across the country. A maximum of 80% of annual income is used to award grants. The remaining funds are reinvested in the Endowment to keep its efforts going into the future.
The Endowment considers grant requests for conservation, outdoor recreation, and education projects of all kinds, from youth programs to wetland restoration. Grants are competitive and must support the League’s goals and objectives. The Endowment will prioritize grant requests that best meet its requirements.
Other things to consider:
- The Endowment does not fund land acquisition and constructing/restoring buildings. It also does not fund salaries for League volunteers or employees.
- Chapters requesting grant funding are highly encouraged to seek Division approval.
- Loans will be considered if the project aligns with the Endowment’s focus areas. The Board will consider these requests on a case-by-case basis.
- The Endowment always considers League applications first and foremost. However, the Board will consider applications from outside organizations under limited circumstances.
